Theoretical: I picked this photo because it makes me think. It doesn’t show something straightforward—it plays with symmetry and distortion, and I wasn’t totally sure what I was looking at at first. That’s the point. It feels like an image about ideas, not just visuals. It’s more about how we see than what we’re seeing.https://snapshot.canon-asia.com/article/eng/gestalt-theory-in-street-photography

Explanatory: I took this photo because it says a lot about the area without needing much context. You can see how people move through the space, the way the shops are laid out, and how the road is used. It’s not meant to be dramatic—just a way of showing how things function in everyday life.

Ethically Evaluative:At first this seemed like a peaceful scene, but when I looked closer, I realized how close the water was to the edge of the porch. It made me think about flooding and how neighborhoods are built near water. It raises questions about planning and climate without saying anything directly—it’s just there, and it makes you think.

My favorite image is the ethically evaluative one: I think this is my most successful image because it quietly suggests something deeper about flooding and vulnerability without being obvious; the most challenging part of the assignment was figuring out which type of analysis best fit each photo; and in future assignments, I’ll try to be more intentional about what I’m capturing and why while I’m taking the photo.

Interpretive: This is me and my sister It reflects something about how we connect—how we’re present for each other in moments that matter. It’s not about the event itself so much as what it means to be there together. You can tell there’s a story behind the image, even if you don’t know it.

Aesthetically Evaluative:This one really stood out to me because of how it looks. The colors, the reflection in the water, and the way everything feels balanced—it just works visually. I didn’t have to explain it much; it’s just one of those images where everything comes together in a way that’s worth noticing.https://mmcclellan2.medium.com/a-photo-with-out-a-camera-51100f5eba09

Descriptive:I didn’t try to overthink this photo. I just wanted to capture what the space looked like that day—rows of chairs, people walking, the setup. It’s straightforward, more about remembering the moment than trying to say something with it. It’s just what was happening, as it was.
